My son agreed to go camping with me in King's Canyon so we headed up to Onion Valley and hiked in over Kearsarge Pass. It is only about eight miles to Charlotte Lake, a good distance for a single day in this type of terrain. But the entire region is quite appealing and so we stayed for a couple of days.

Day hike to approach Sixty Lake Basin

I spent the morning fishing in Charlotte Lake while my son slept. I only caught one fish during the two days we spent here, but it did make for a good meal.

In the afternoon I climbed up high onto this ridge in an effort to find a pass to Sixty Lake basin. I didn't climb quite high enough to make the pass, but I'm pretty sure there are shortcuts into Sixty Lake Basin from this ridge.
